Project Manager

Belvika is currently seeking a Project Manager for its Export facility, located in Mississauga. Reporting to the Manager, Project Manager Office or designate, we are seeking a talented Project Manager who will be responsible for the coordination, implementation, execution, and completion of customer new product and packaging projects. In addition, the candidate will also review and recommend production line implementations, company process improvements and continuous improvements / efficiency projects.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the planning and implementation of customer new product and packaging projects;
  • Facilitate project scope, goals and deliverables, organize and facilitate line trials;
  • Assist in the development of new product packaging, sourcing of packaging materials, review artwork for approval, proofs, mock ups, samples, colour proofs, etc.;
  • Communicate with suppliers to keep current on new developments, materials, etc.;
  • Develop packaging specifications for new and changing products. Maintain files and distribute specification to all appropriate departments. This includes new packaging codes and pallet patterns;
  • Develop project plans and track project timelines using tools such as Smartsheet;
  • Manage project budget and resource allocation;
  • Work closely with engineering and operations team on technical aspects of packaging;
  • Coordinate and direct external suppliers and liaise with customers on all projects;
  • Generate reports for Leadership on project status and progress;
  • Analyze and edit technical drawings or technical information when necessary;
  • Identify lean efficiency improvements within projects;

Education/Work experience requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ work experience in packaging development, graphics or project management;
  • Understanding and exposure to consumer products industry;
  • Bachelor or college degree required;
  • Valid Driver’s License & access to own personal vehicle;
  • Ability to travel to other sites as required;
  • Knowledge of packaging materials and food packaging equipment an asset;
  • Strong Communication Skills, (document revisions and report writing);

Planning Analyst

Belvika is currently seeking a Planning Analyst to analyze and plan customer scheduling requirements based on customer forecast demand. This hands-on position will be responsible for the day-to-day planning of materials required to execute customer demand plans. The Planning Analyst will be located in the Export facility, located in Mississauga, and will be initially responsible for the day to day needs of a select group of customers. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong mix of customer service experience in the consumer-packaged goods area, an ability to work with various computer programs (Microsoft Office, ERP) and a desire to take on new challenges in a fast paced and exciting customer focused environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Communicate & coordinate daily material requirements as per customer forecasted demand;
  • Establish production for short and long-term requirements and ensure production plans;
  • Plan for and schedule feedstock and packaging material in support of production schedule;
  • Provide on-going status updates to customer demand planner & internal team through communications and system entries;
  • Analyze validity of schedules & participate in weekly customer conference calls with the demand planning team;
  • Forecast the impacts on schedule for proposed changes;
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure all customer requirements are met within the required production timelines;
  • Analyze and report productivity on projects;
  • Conduct current and future forecasting analysis;

Education/Work experience requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in customer service or in planning, preferably in a CPG environment;
  • Procurement experience would be an asset;

Setup Technician/Operator

Belvika is growing and is currently seeking Setup Technician/Operator for its Thornmount facility, located in Scarborough. The individuals must be flexible to work all shifts.

The successful candidate will:

  • Set up and troubleshoot packaging machines and lines;
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards;
  • Adjust machine components, machine tension and pressure according to size or processing angle of product;
  • Regulate machine flow or speed;
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a Supervisor;
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material;
  • Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment, such as opening valves or setting guides;
  • Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or glue that isn’t sticking properly;
  • Perform preventative maintenance on packaging lines as the schedule requires;
  • Repair areas in the facility that require attention as per work orders;
  • Train Packaging Equipment Operators;
  • Assist with production on lines as required;
  • Able to source & order parts through online maintenance program;
  • Other duties as assigned;

Education/Work experience requirements:

  • 1-2 year’s experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in secondary packaging (i.e. shrink wrapping, overwrapping and cartoning);
  • Engineering/Technical Education background;
  • Forklift or Scissor Lift certification an asset;
  • Experience with high speed packaging equipment (example: Bartelt and food scales (Ishida);
  • *IMPORTANT* Licensed Millwright not required

Operations Supervisor

Belvika is currently seeking an Operations Supervisor to assist managing a facility in Scarborough, Ontario. This role will report to the Operations Site Manager and will be responsible for approximately 100+ employees. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong mix of leadership experience in food co-packaging or manufacturing environment, an ability to work with various systems and processes, and a desire to take on new challenges in a fast paced and exciting customer focused environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Monitor production levels and ensure that productivity targets are met within time allotted;
  • Execution of KPI’s and OEE targets;
  • CI experience and six sigma training;
  • Ensure smooth shift start-up by planning staff lines accordingly based upon planned schedule;
  • Complete production declaring/ postings in Client ERP systems when required;
  • Assign tasks/responsibilities to staff on production lines, ensure the correct number of staff and positions are covered;
  • Manage and oversee the production floor staff and activity during the entire shift of the operation and ensure staff movement efficiently during line change-overs;
  • Develop and conduct employee training on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that are required for production improvements;
  • Ensure quality standards are being met by communicating process changes and resolving quality concerns;
  • Coordinate with Inventory Coordinator(s) and Line Leader(s) to ensure production reconciliation processes are being followed and product and packaging numbers are accurate;
    Resolve production concerns and recommend measures to improve productivity;
  • Ensure accuracy in Dayforce by monitoring employees in/out punches;
  • Coordinate and communicate with the Production or Operations Site Manager, fellow Shift Supervisors and other departments to ensure the flow of production is maintained and fulfillment is 100%;
  • Comply with Company strategies and policies when handling paperwork and inventory;
  • Prepare shift end reports on performance/progress and email to required team members;
  • Promote a healthy & safe working environment by ensuring safety standards are met;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Work experience requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a co-packaging or manufacturing facility in a leadership role, preferably in a CPG food environment;
  • Previous management experience;
  • College equivalent or higher;
  • Knowledge of production, distribution, inventory and supply chain practices;
  • Knowledge of applicable labor laws;
  • Experience is leading Health and Safety programs.

Key technical & behavioural competencies:

  • Previous experience with SAP or other ERP software systems, including Nulogy, considered an asset;
